Dean Harrington Nearly 30 of the 36 named here are by female authors. Do men not write books anymore or is there a built-in bias to female authors/readers? Serious question. I like female authors but......

It is a list based on "early buzz," basically they are books that people have shelved. It just so happens that female authors have been shelved more often in this case.

Jen OMG! I want to read all of these. I love mystery books. They keep me up all night wondering who killed whom. So excited for these books to come out. Libraries rock.

message 23: by Jasa (new)

Jasa The one I’m most looking forward to is “The Pact”, by Sharon Bolton (who is, for me, the bees knees when it comes to thrillers, alongside with Tana French), which comes out in May, but I’ll admit that “The Lost Apothecary” and “Who is Maud Dixon?” also sound great!

message 24: by Eva (new)

Eva The third book from Andrea Bartz, a thriller called “We Were Never Here” will be published on July 13th 2021 by Ballantine Books. Can’t wait!!

Westraid These are surely promising, but I'm looking forward to read some already released mysteries set in Regency era: Sebastian St. Cyr, Lady Sherlock and Veronica Speedwell series.
(I just need to decide which one I want to read first.. Σ(-᷅_-᷄๑) )

message 39: by Tim (new)

Tim Parr Lots of great ideas. I've currently gone to ground writing a sequel to my murder mystery. I love crime thrillers but avoid reading similar genre when writing, so I have picked Kafka on the Shore for my "to read" bookshelf.

message 40: by rita k andis (new)

rita k andis WIN - Harlen Coben

message 41: by Maureen (new)

Maureen Shaw Excepting Jane Harper and Lisa Jewel, the line up of new books is not very interesting.

message 42: by Liz Bellamy (new)

Liz Bellamy I'm afraid that in the present situation, and having family members covid positive, I cannot concentrate on serious reading of my usual historical crime fiction so I have moved to the cozy mystery genre. Shortish, lightweight and sometimes have grammatical and factual errors, but still crime mysteries, and often highly entertaining. I'm currently waiting for Steve Higgs 'Wonderful Weddings and Deadly Divorces' due in February. He writes four series but I only read three as I'm not into Urban Fantasy.
