Before It Ends with Us, it started with Atlas. Colleen Hoover tells fan favorite Atlas’s side of the story and shares what comes next in this long-anticipated sequel to the “glorious and touching” (USA TODAY) #1 New York Times bestseller It Ends with Us.

Lily and her ex-husband, Ryle, have just settled into a civil co-parenting rhythm when she suddenly bumps into her first love, Atlas, again. After nearly two years separated, she is elated that for once, time is on their side, and she immediately says yes when Atlas asks her on a date.

But her excitement is quickly hampered by the knowledge that, though they are no longer married, Ryle is still very much a part of her life—and Atlas Corrigan is the one man he will hate being in his ex-wife and daughter’s life.

Switching between the perspectives of Lily and Atlas, It Starts with Us picks up right where the epilogue for the “gripping, pulse-pounding” (Sarah Pekkanen, author of Perfect Neighbors) bestselling phenomenon It Ends with Us left off. Revealing more about Atlas’s past and following Lily as she embraces a second chance at true love while navigating a jealous ex-husband, it proves that “no one delivers an emotional read like Colleen Hoover” (Anna Todd, New York Times bestselling author).

"The Queen of the Bestseller List." —USA Today

My Review

We all fell in love with Colleen Hoover's IT ENDS WITH US (5 stars), and now the most highly anticipated follow-up sequel to Lily and Atlas' powerful and emotional story six years later —IT STARTS WITH US! It was worth the wait and exceeded all expectations. Thank you, Colleen. xo LOVED IT!

"Perfection! For anyone who has ever been a victim of domestic abuse. Triumph Over Tragedy—Lily and Atlas finally get their much-deserved happy ending! Highly recommend."

Deserving of all the hype and then some!

Readers: You must read the first book before reading the second, or it will not make any sense.

Lily was only 15 years old (from an abusive household—her father) in the first book and her mother was not strong enough to leave him.

Atlas was a 17-year-old homeless boy (also escaping an abusive family) whom Lily tried to help. Until her dad stepped in, and it all ended. Atlas later joined the Marines.

Lily later went on to marry Ryle (a surgeon—also abusive), and they had a daughter, Emerson.

Hoover ended the first book with Lily and her newborn, and now, six years after that, there is finally some conclusion for fans.

Ryle and Lily are divorced, but he is still actively involved in her life due to Emerson, their daughter. She still does not trust him, and they must share visits with Emerson, even though Lily has custody due to Ryle's violent temper.

Now, Lily owns a flower shop, and Atlas is back and owns several restaurants.

They have always been in love, and now may be their second chance, but Ryle is still very jealous and controlling, so they must be careful with the situation and handle it delicately before things get out of hand.

Atlas is fantastic (the opposite of Ryle) and every girl's dream. Looks, personality, and nice. Atlas also has some things going on with someone breaking into the restaurants.

Atlas' dysfunctional mom and younger brother he did not know about— surface and he also has a team of friends that surround him supporting him.

Lily is stronger and wiser than she was back when and now stands up with Ryle instead of letting him rule her life. She also has the support of her best Alyssa, Ryle's sister, and Atlas.

I loved Theo, and Josh's characters were an excellent addition. I loved every single page and read it in one sitting! Fans are going to devour this sequel. I love Atlas!!!

Colleen Hoover is a gifted writer and she is deserving of all her success! Readers who have experienced domestic abuse (such as myself) will appreciate this series even more. My top favorites are:

The newest, highly anticipated novel from beloved #1 New York Times bestselling author, Colleen Hoover.

Sometimes it is the one who loves you who hurts you the most. Lily hasn’t always had it easy, but that’s never stopped her from working hard for the life she wants. She’s come a long way from the small town in Maine where she grew up—she graduated from college, moved to Boston, and started her own business. So when she feels a spark with a gorgeous neurosurgeon named Ryle Kincaid, everything in Lily’s life suddenly seems almost too good to be true.

Ryle is assertive, stubborn, maybe even a little arrogant. He’s also sensitive, brilliant, and has a total soft spot for Lily. And the way he looks in scrubs certainly doesn’t hurt. Lily can’t get him out of her head. But Ryle’s complete aversion to relationships is disturbing. Even as Lily finds herself becoming the exception to his “no dating” rule, she can’t help but wonder what made him that way in the first place.

As questions about her new relationship overwhelm her, so do thoughts of Atlas Corrigan—her first love and a link to the past she left behind. He was her kindred spirit, her protector. When Atlas suddenly reappears, everything Lily has built with Ryle is threatened.

With this bold and deeply personal novel, Colleen Hoover delivers a heart-wrenching story that breaks exciting new ground for her as a writer. Combining a captivating romance with a cast of all-too-human characters, It Ends With Us is an unforgettable tale of love that comes at the ultimate price.
